What to Expect | Resilience Psychiatry NY

Your First Step Toward Mental Wellness

At Resilience Psychiatry, we know that starting psychiatric care can feel overwhelming — especially if it’s your first time.

Our goal is to make the process as comfortable, transparent, and supportive as possible.

Whether you’re coming in for a first-time evaluation, follow-up, or telepsychiatry appointment, you’ll receive care that’s compassionate, evidence-based, and personalized to your needs.

Before Your First Appointment

To help your visit go smoothly:

  • Complete new patient forms before your appointment (available on the Forms & Policies page).
  • Gather a list of current medications, relevant medical records, or prior evaluations.
  • Prepare any questions or topics you’d like to discuss.

Our staff will confirm appointment details, telehealth links (if applicable), and provide any additional instructions.

During Your Initial Evaluation

Your first appointment typically lasts 60–90 minutes and includes:

  • A detailed discussion of your current symptoms, concerns, and goals
  • Review of medical, family, and mental health history
  • Exploration of lifestyle, stressors, and supports
  • Initial diagnostic impressions and a personalized treatment plan

Depending on your needs, your psychiatrist may recommend therapy, medication management, or both.

Follow-Up Visits

Follow-up visits are usually 25–30 minutes, focused on monitoring progress, adjusting treatment, and supporting ongoing wellness.

For younger patients, parents or guardians are included in medication management sessions and may be included in therapy sessions when appropriate.

Telepsychiatry Appointments

We offer secure telepsychiatry sessions for patients across New York and Florida, making care convenient and accessible without compromising quality.

Telehealth visits follow the same structure and confidentiality standards as in-person appointments.
